Bush Immersion Therapy

Bush Immersion Therapy is my own unique expression of the practice of spending mindful time in Nature to receive the therapeutic healing benefits of Nature to balance mental, emotional, physical & even spiritual wellbeing.

You may have heard of Forest Bathing/Forest Therapy or Shinrin Yoku or EcoTherapy; these are all wonderful variations of what I offer and come from different cultures in different parts of the world. Bush Immersion Therapy is my own unique offering that is available here in Australia.

It comes about from cultivating the practice of spending quality time immersed in the natural world, listening to and observing the seasons and cycles, by engaging in simple rituals & celebrations, and learning the lessons shared from the Wisdom Keepers of ancient cultures and lands and distilling it down to my understanding and a deep deep knowledge and remembering. It is the result of having spent a lifetime exploring and being out in nature and feeling the profound effects it has had on my own wellbeing.

I call it Bush Immersion Therapy because here in Australia we do not have the Woods, so to speak, and although the bush can be harsh and certainly can be wild we also don’t refer to it as the Wilderness. It is simply the Australian Bush and it is found on such a unique and ancient land with such a strong energy that is calling us to reconnect to the many healing benefits.

You may have heard the term “going bush” or to “go bush”. This is what we say when we are going to “unplug” for a while, to get away from it all and rejuvenate by spending time in Nature. And it is within this vast land of contrasts and energetic landscapes that the bush provides the therapy. All we need to do is immerse ourselves in it.

It is my wish and invitation to share this practice with you so that you may also experience the effects of spending quality time in nature.

The long lasting effects of Bush Immersion Therapy may include but may not be limited to:

  • Reduced anxiety & stress levels
  • Lowered heart rate & blood pressure
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Better mood & self esteem
  • Improved immune function
  • Gratitude
  • Appreciation of life
  • A deepening relationship with all living things

(A study showing “How Might Contact with Nature Promote Human Health?”)

By developing a closer connection to nature you begin the appreciate your place within the cycle of life and come to better understand your relationship with the environment, others & yourself. We are not separate from nature nor are we above it, we are simply a part of it. The seasons, the cycles, the interconnected web of life. And what you will discover is that when we love something we are also more inclined to protect it. And so the circle continues…

While practicing Bush Immersion Therapy and afterwards you may experience feelings of:

  • Joy
  • Happiness
  • Contentedness
  • Peace
  • Stillness
  • Understanding
  • Curiosity
  • Self expression
  • Self enquiry
  • Focus
  • Connection

The practice can take you on a journey of self discovery or may be used as an anchor point in your life to keep you grounded or focused. It may be a simple ritual or a much longer immersion.

These benefits are available to anyone at anytime but if you would like to experience a Bush Immersion session with Bushflowergirl I offer personalised sessions for individuals and groups which may include some or all of the following:

  • Mindfulness walks in nature
  • Nature Journalling outings
  • Sit Spot
  • Exploring for Bush Flowers
  • Guided Sensory practices
  • Grounding
  • Wisdom sharing Circles
  • Longer pilgrimage walks
